Ok, so all that stuff I said last week about 4 lap races! What was I thinking?! Next time I start b**ching about lap count just punch me in the face. But seriously: awesome course, true Flandersesque mud and muck, new wooded segment a nice addition. I was middle of the pack and finished in 32 minutes flat. Perfect. Bring on Northbrook.
Thank you to everyone who encouraged me during this race. I really appreciate all the comments, they certainly added to the experience and fun. Today I managed only 2 laps of 4 and I look forward to reaching the goal of completing an event before the end of the season.

WOW!
I wanted to jump for joy when I saw you on the starting line today!
You have great determination!
You should be just as famous as the “Guy in blue” and “Flannel Man.”
I hope to see you next week in Northbrook!

Moved from 4B last week to masters 30+ to get that extra 15 mins of racing in. Started towards the rear of the group and made my way to about 15-18 by the 2nd to last lap when disaster happened. What I thought was just my chain off out of the woods ended up being a snapped rear derailleur. It took a few seconds of fumbling through the goop to see the root cause. Catastrophe failure of the RD. Chain stay got chipped (glad I do not have a carbon frame). Still, this was the first DNF of the season but I can still honestly say, today was the most fun I have had yet. Hopefully I can get a replacment on this week so I can race Sunday. Just a blast. Thanks.
So…I managed to lose the softbox for my camera flash somewhere between the finish and the muddy trenches. It’s rectangular, whitish, plastic, about 1″ wide x 2.5″ long x 1″ deep.
If anyone found it, can you comment here or e-mail me directly? (liz.farina@gmail.com) I’ll be at Northbrook and can get it from you then.
Great job today everyone!!!! That course kicked ass.
Many thanks to the lady yelling out coaching advice by the barriers near the rivers during 4B. I have no idea who it was because of the racing induced stupor. Its a nice change from “YOU’RE ON A MOUNTAIN BIKE WHAT ARE YOU DOING”.

Nice work Petra! We were in the same race today…keep working hard and you will reach your goal for sure!
Yeah, my 45 minute race somehow turned into a 54 minute mudfest. Bargain.
Thanks to anyone who came out to race today, and made it a success.
