Great race. Great course. I LOVED the sandy parts. Wasn’t loving the hill so much (gravity doesn’t like me). Thanks to all the volunteers and sponsors and spectators for making this such an awesome series and so much fun!
I personally would like to thank everyone involved in the Chicago CX Cup, from Jason, Nikki and the Officials, all of the teams that put on amazing races including mine, The talented photographers and of course most importantly all you Racers, the pulse of the CCC. From the Fella’s in Flannel all the way to Scott from SRAM. Your positive vibes and words of encouragement made crawling into the paincave every sunday this fall the Highlight of 2009.
You made this Cat 3 criterium racer feel incredibly at home in the Dirt and I’m humbled to race amongst you. The main reason why Chicago is one of the best cities in the world is because of the people that live here, people like you….
First year cycle cross racing for me and I thoroughly enjoyed all the courses I’ve participated in no matter how painful it was.
Today the spiked eggnog handup was tasty, I should have grabbed more than one
Thanks to all the teams who made the CX cup happen and next year should be even bigger.
To everyone involved with the Chicago Cross Cup Series I would like to say thank you and congratulate you on an epic year. The venues were awesome. The clubs and officials who worked tirelessly throughout the week and the race day weekends were amazing. The riders who participated were fun, enthusiastic and dedicated. To all the fans who came out and cheered us on and made the series more fun with each passing week – a huge thanks. Chicago Cross can be very proud of itself. I believe our program would stand up against any other througout the U.S. Thank you one and all. Bring on the 2010 series!!
That… that was a hard course. You know it’s bad when I”m not enjoying the sand and I think the hill is restful.
Thanks. To everyone. If this is what CX is everywhere, why aren’t more people doing it?
I’m already ready for next year. For now I’m stuck trying to figure out what to do the rest of the winter. Someone mentioned some road races next year….
It’s 5am Monday morning, snow is falling lightly outside and my legs are so sore I can’t sleep! I’ve been racing ‘cross for a long time all over the U.S. and Europe, but my favorite courses, the best race organization, and the most fun to be had on a bicycle is right here, right now in the CCC. Thanks very much to the organizers, promoters, officials, participants and especially the hecklers of the Chicago Cross Cup.
A big THANK YOU to the ChiCross staff and volunteers you helped to make my first season fun and enjoyable. I really want to thank all of you who heckled me on–kept my interest up. And, I agree, pushing up the hill was much easier than pushing through the sand pits. I especially want to thank all the women in 4 for their encouragement. It really helps.
Thank you C.C.C. Wow it’s a far cry from when we were lucky to get over 10 guys in the 45+ race and more then 6 women out there. Just a couple years ago a few of us were campaigning to have a 50+ class. I’ve been involved with road and mountain bike races in the last few years but nothing compares to CX racing. The fun factor is thru the roof. I would really like to put some sort of rag tag marching band together next year.Ummm Can a Marching band play Freebird?
And Thank you to the clubs and promoters who put the events on. Everybody stepped it up again.
We, all of us (dogs too), just defined what a US Cyclocross Series looks like. We captured a lightening bolt and hammered out a template that other cities and regions will aspire to recreate.
We, all of us (dogs too), created a thing of beauty, outside of personal gain, outside of commerce and marketing. Something so beautiful you can’t see the rivets that hold it together. It came together organically, welded together with the love of the human spirit, where everyone came and suffered and danced and celebrated.
And it’s with sadness we disband and face our disparate winters, taking with us our individual sparks that built such a flame; a flame that roars: do not go gentle into that good night.

I managed to get a dollar, a VERY sandy cookie, and a beer in a single run through the pit. You can’t ask for a better time than that in the 4b’s.
I just wish my frame hadn’t given up the ghost on Cricket Hill.

And that, ladies and gentlemen, is why Super Girl is the Awesomest (TM).
