  1. Great race course today, kudos to CCC – I bet no other CX race in the world had a drone mounted camera like we did this morning!

  2. I’ve spent the afternoon debating on tossing this out there, since I was pretty fired up at the race, but please, PLEASE, make sure you aren’t on the course during the race. Once races are done, PLEASE enter the course AFTER the finish line to ensure you aren’t interfering with the race outcome.

On the final lap of the SS race I lost 3-4 seconds to a woman pre-riding the course with about 4 turns left in the race. 3-4 seconds doesn’t seem like much, but it allowed the 4th place riding to close what little gap I had and nearly cost me the podium…..to the tune of about a wheel length.

Announcements are made to enter the course after the finish line to avoid this exact scenario. I’m fine with having to make my way through traffic on the course when people are racing, but I really don’t think riders should be forced into making their way through traffic that isn’t even racing at the time.

    • Brandon is absolutely, 100% correct here. No rider should ever, ever, ever enter the course to preview it in front of the finish line. Always enter AFTER the finish line. Besides getting in the way of riders finishing and often times sprint for placings, your out of place bib # will cause errors with the officials scoring the race. Thanks.

  3. I forgot a Powertap wheel and Blackburn mag trainer near the staging area today. Did anyone pick that stuff up, or who can i talk with to get that back?

    Thank you in advance.

  4. Fantastic course today. It had a little of everything that makes CX so much fun.

On a different note, the Cat 3 men’s official results include a mistake. A lapped rider was scored in fourth place. They supposedly fixed this on-site, but the mistake made it into the official results.

  5. We are taking a “divide and conquer” strategy for today’s race, and posting photos in batches starting with the Master’s 40+. All photos from today will be posted to this gallery, hopefully sometime on Monday. Check back often.

We will be posting photos to our Facebook page as well, for sharing and tagging. Please let us know if you’d like to be added to that gallery for your 15 seconds of internet fame.

Thank you for your continued support and encouragement both on the course and behind the lens.

  7. Great course! Jim, you and your team outdid yourself this year. Reversing the course and putting in the double uphill bunny jumps, which I endo’ed on with an almost near perfect nose wheelie, was a great way to reinvent a course.

  8. I’ve noticed that the CAT 4/5 races have been ending around 25 minutes. Is this normal? I am new to cross racing this year, but I thought that once you hit the 30 minute mark you finish the lap that you are. Who marks the end of the race? The officials or just when the leaders stop racing? I feel like there should have been another lap. Great course though!

  9. Thanks ABD for a great event! Awesome course, love the changes and the bunny hop logs. Another prime example of how small changes in a course can really make huge changes during the race.

  10. Not a big deal but I thought I would mention it. The Jr. podiums were done during the Cat 4 race. There were a few Jrs that would have been there for the podium if it were held after the Cat 4 race. I understand there were computer problems so there was a delay so the podiums couldn’t be done prior to the Cat 4 race like normal. Just something to think about in the future. Not much reason to have a podium if there are too many people missing.

    • Normally the juniors podiums are scheduled for 2 p.m., during the Men’s 1/2/3’s. Unfortunately when results are delayed beyond the Men’s 1/2/3’s, there’s really no ideal time to get them done with everyone present. Just as many families likely would have gone home (not to mention podium volunteers) if juniors podiums wouldn’t have been announced until 4:15 p.m., after the Cat 4’s. Thanks for your patience, hoping for smoother sailing next week!

      • Good point. I reviewed the list and there were 2 people in the Cat 4 race that couldn’t be on the Jr. podiums and one person who was in the Cat 4/5 that could assuming he wasn’t warming up. By delaying it another 10 to 15 minutes, you would have risked more people leaving. By having the podiums earlier, you don’t risk more people leaving.

I didn’t look before posting. Just disappointed that I didn’t get a picture of my daughter on the podium with her best result of the year. Stuff happens and in the big picture, it doesn’t matter. Thanks for the repsonse.

  11. Here are the gallery links for the pictures from Sunday’s races, I’m still working my way through the over 5000+ images so not all the galleries are populated. Feel free to harass or send feedback to matthewcanephotography at gmail.com ;)

(will post the rest of the links after I get them uploaded)

I stayed for all the races and tried to get a shot of everyone that raced. There were a few people that I just couldn’t seem to get in focus- maybe next week. If you were warming up you may be at the beginning or end of the gallery for the time frame you were on the course for- there were a few sweet bunny hops during warm-ups. There were also some sweet endo’s…

      • Andrew, it is and we’ll have it at the Campton Cross race on Sunday. If you need it sooner please let me know and I’ll bring it to Bicycle Heaven in Geneva and you can pick it up during business hours. If we don’t see you this weekend we’ll give it to the next promoter.
