Where can we pick up CCC shirts that we ordered? I couldn’t make it to the last few races due to work. Bleh.

    Thanks!

I’m very curious why the junior girls are scored with the boys instead of separately in the Illinois races? You have a great opportunity to get girls into the sport and you can’t encourage them by providing separate results and prizes? Please consider changing the perspective for 2010. It will pay dividends over the the long haul.

I agree, if it’s allowed by the ICA rules. While we’re at it, I’d also like to put in my two cents regarding scoring all of the Juniors together. It would be great to split the age group into 10-14 & 15-18 if possible. I know a bunch of little guys that work their butts off to hang with some of the “giant” juniors! They can all still race in the same heat, but just score them separately?

Either way – we all had a great time and are longing for 2010 to start! Thanks, everyone!

Ditto that, Mike. Obviously, its the collective enthusiasm of the Juniors that will help continue this phenomenal growth in the series – not to mention the fact that they help make “our” sickness bearable to the family unit (and their a bunch of really, really good kids too!).

Great point on the “family approval” – I think that’s the main reason I was allowed to come out every week! One less kid for my wonderful wife to keep track of!

That reminds me – here’s to all of the support crews that either come out and cheer us through the pain, have a cold beer waiting for us afterwards or at the very least, allow us to subject ourselves to it week in, week out. Thank you!!

Agreed about the 10-14 and 15-18 split by age. Eventually, as participation grows, we may want to see the 10-14 split into 10-12 and 13-14 like they do at Nationals. There is a huge difference in pre-adolescent vs adolescent kids (and it worth noting that 10-12 cyclocross kids are actually 9 – 11 year olds). My 10yo boy only weighs 65 lbs so there’s a huge difference to a 13yo boy. Sure, there may be some small fields, but the young kids really like to get a prize once in a while. Even inexpensive “finisher” ribbons (they could say “Champion” on them) for each finisher would be prized by the little ones and keep them coming back for more.

Nice idea about giving them something to keep them motivated to come back each week. I would be willing to bet that most of these kids (mainly the younger ones and newbies) would be thrilled to receive some sort of recognition that they could show off to their “non-cross” friends, which might even inspire more juniors to give it a try. These kids aren’t just running a little 100 yard dash – their racing cross!!! They deserve a HUGE congratulations for racing the same course that most adults would be afraid to try.

Or maybe packages of bacon & twinkies?

Wanted to follow up on 4B’s prizes from Montrose, any news? I can pick-up to make it convenient.
