The first batch of photos from the end of the day (4B and SS) are going up here. I’m putting them all up, good and bad. They should all be up by tomorrow.
I love this race, mostly because of my tree root fettish, but also because of the smoothness and proness of the promoters and host. Great work yous guys!
Also, if anyone picked up a red wool jersey with two black bands on the arm, holler at me.
I’ll ask around to see if anyone remembers what happened to it – my guess is that if it isn’t with the rest of the l&f stuff then it probably got picked up w/ the leftover volunteer prizes and that Tobie from NCC might have it.
Excellent course. Good mixture of technical and power sections. I do wish there would have been one full-speed barrier (not really a complaint, just an observation). As a rule of thumb I think it would be a good idea to have at least one full-speed barrier and one “technical barrier” (i.e. a barrier on a hill, around a hill, by a ditch, etc.) on every course.
Yeah, I’ve seen that one before. Super funny (assuming he actually is ok). This is one reason it’s recommended to lift your bike off the ground when you’re trying to go over (not through) a barrier. Being able to take a barrier at speed is a basic but difficult skill for cross (one that I wish I was better at). Like technical turns, power sections, run-ups and sand pits it’s a place where riders can improve their position/take chances or lose spots depending on a number of factors. It adds a technical and tactical element that can make the course and the races more interesting. Barriers that are placed right on or after sharp turns, for example, are usually less interesting because you have to scrub most of your speed, which does not typically allow riders a significant advantage/disadvantage based on their barrier form. Again, this is offered as a general comment on course design not a criticism of the Hopkins Park course, which I thought was great. Many thanks to all the teams/clubs/individuals who contributed to the well-run event.
Official Lost & Found from Hopkins Park includes:
–Mox longsleeve jersey
–1 black arm warmer
–1 black leg warmer
–xXx skinsuit, short sleeves
–Gore jacket, black and grey
I’ll bring all this stuff to Dan Ryan Woods or contact me.
Yes, I just have the stuff that was either left at Reg, or that we found randomly laying around while taking down the course. You can email me at mosleyjen at gmail dot com.
I also left a grey zip up long-sleeve hooded shirt. I believe I put it on the chair at registration as I was trying to get all the 4A’s on the wait list in. If anyone has found it, I’ll be helping with registration on Sunday. = )
P.S. I left a maroon zip-up sweater by the Start Finish at the Course crossing. I HOPE HOPE HOPE someone found it because it has my house keys in the pocket. Oppsies. Dear Promoters if you find if contact me. Thanks!
Great race today Half Acre and Robots pb Love! I got so wrapped up in the excitement that I forgot my wheels in the pit and was wondering if anybody picked them up. They are a custom pair of Major Tom’s with white DT 240 hubs and Challenge Grifo’s. If anyone picked them up I would appreciate you getting in touch with me and I’ll figure out how to pick them up. Many thanks.
Hey Hopkins Park race staff, Great race, course and weather (if you like nice weather for cross – mud would be better, but we were not freezing yet which is good). Al Thom – nice job on the announcing. Overall fun day. Several of the team stayed to watch the single speed mania – a good show.
Can someone i.d. this rider for me? Check the link and it is the second photo.

Shea – if it was a EWNR jersey, I’m pretty sure it was floating around the reg table when we were cleaning up.
oooohhh! That is good news! Thanks Mike. I dropped it while carrying my son back to the car.
do you know who I should talk to? btw, I’ll be at Dan Ryan.

Also: A key-fob car opener thing for a Toyota.

I saw them when we were cleaning up after the race I believe NCC grabbed them so I would contact Toby, he should know where they are.
Tobie from NCC has the wheel sets left behind (i think).
Beautiful course, even for us power challenged competitors, had a blast. Thanks for a good time.
