Breakdown of first lap times – shown visually. What a great race! Thanks ABD and CCC!
Forgot link for 1st lap time graphic:
Note the 55+, Jr 15-18, & Jr 9-14 fields’ times were NOT adjusted by One2Go for the lag (which was/is variable) these fields started behind the 45+, SS, & W4 respectively.
Thanks for poining that out – did not realize that was how it worked (I race at the end of the day). That explains why these fields looked “slower” than I anticipated.
Does anyone have podium pictures of CAT4 race???
There were about 4 people taking photos, and I would love to get few shots.
First half of the 1/2/3 race.
Blatant Spam: Come on down to Peoria this Saturday for a challenging cross race. Proceeds help little furry animals. http://www.usacycling.org/events/getflyer.php?permit=2014-2949 Part of HICX series.
Seriously fun and challenging course. Seems like everyone is trying to outdo the previous week’s race this year. Huge thanks to ABD, the officials and everyone who showed up to make a great day of racing.

3 tries, I’m out. If you want to see the whole race, go to my Youtube account and look for the start. Apparently cut and paste is playing games with me today, and no ability to edit posts here. 🙂

The invisible barrier @ 10:46.
Thanks to Jim, ABD, and all the great volunteers who helped make yesterday’s race awesome and fun.
We’ve posted photos to our website and some on Facebook.
We’d like to thank you all for coming out the last few weeks and posing for our photos. We’re traveling to Colorado this weekend, so we will be missing the Halloween shenanigans. Look forward to seeing everyone again in Woodstock.
Junior 15-18 & Single Speed photos
That’s it for me this week – sorry I couldn’t stick around longer!
Thank you everyone for coming out and playing bikes yesterday! I have quite a few payouts that were not collected yesterday. I will have them next week at Campton. I will be there from early morning until the end of the Cat 3 race and should be around the ABD tent other than when I race in 45+. Anything I come home with will be graciously donated to the Bartlett Parks Foundation. If you are not going to be there or are racing after the Cat 3 race, please contact me (jnlnowak at netscape.net) so we can work something out.
Also I have a Chase Visa Debit card. If you are missing your card, please contact me.
Kevin, I saw it and it was spectacular!
I can’t believe I still have all my teeth.

Speaking of not Omar. Who is the funny man who called me Andre in the 4/5 race? Especially funny since you usually call me Omar, but you knew Omar wasn’t there yesterday. Well played, sir.
Its Verdigris, messing with our minds…
I have no idea who that could have been.
Ken, if you figure out who it is, it might behoove him to learn the correct names of the Higher Gear racers. Andre and Omar might be able to help him post a video in the comments section.

Would love to see any 4/5 pics if anybody has them…thanks!
This was my second race ever (both with CCC) and I am increasingly impressed with how organized and well-run everything is! Thanks to all that make these events happen, they are a blast.
Another phenomenal CCC course! Big thanks to ABD and crew for giving us the opportunity to come out and beat ourselves up at a great venue.
Also, a big thanks for the kiddie course – watching my 6 year old and his fellow racers was priceless.

Bummed I had to leave after the JR & SS races. Those pics posted shortly.
Can’t wait to see the junior pics!
It really was a fun course. Well done! And thanks for fixing the weather!
Biting my tongue today. https://vimeo.com/110112701
Nice vid John and great song choice as well!
I look forward to watching these every Monday morning after the race weekend, you’re doing such an awesome job at capturing each event and course and how unique they are.
These videos will be great to look back on for many years to come I’m sure
Your videos go great with my morning cup of coffee. It captures the flavor of ‘cross. Now if we had some mud and snow, that would be the icing on the cake!
Awesome Mr Gatto!!
Wonderful video j gatto, makes a beat up and sore Cat 5 want to do it all over again.
Please please please tell me someone got pics or video of me faceplanting over the final log in the last lap of the 4/5 race. Please?
Yeah, I’m looking for pics of me doing the same on the first one in Men’s 4.
Great racing today! Thanks Jim for the challenging course. Quick question. What was the deal with no hand ups today? Is this for the remainder of the year? What prompted the decision? Just curious…
To my knowledge, that’s actually been a USAC rule for quite some time.
Yea it’s been a rule for a long time and for some reason it is enacted more strictly than other times.
“Feeding” equals “hand-ups”
4A15. Feeding is generally not permitted unless specifically authorized by the Chief Referee. If authorized, there is normally no feeding in the first two and final two laps of the race, and a temperature of at least 68 degrees is recommended. All feeding takes place in the pit lane, unless the Chief Referee specifies otherwise.
the potential fines for incorrect paper numbers…the disqualification for handups… it’s getting serious.
Yeah…it’s a rule…but I offer the following commentary for our 4’s and 4/5’s….
****FOUND**** Helmet (red/white -???) and sunglasses (pink/purple frames) inside said helmet. Turned into Lost & Found
Awesome, thank you! That’s Sadie’s (xxx junior).
Arielle said it was (Sadie’s)….I should have listened to her!
I second what Jim G. said. Jim N., you and your team did it again! Great course, great weather, great people, great time!
Thanks Mr.Nowak for a great course and thanks to the Pony Shop for all the work you do for the juniors.
Thanks Jim, Paul Swinand is the ring leader and coach of the Junior program, he deserves all the credit. We are super pumped about all the kids out racing, and especially excited for them all to have 2 year age cats for state championships this year!
#403 – I tried my best not to run over your head. Hope you survived intact.
I’m not even sure what happened here. Too much front brake?
Yep. That’s me. I decided to go full bore in that power section–drops, big ring–came around the corner and on the barriers way too hot. Tried to brake, downshift and dismount (from the drops,) all in one motion. Now I know not to do that again. Thanks for not running over me!
**** lost **** Oakley M frame glasses, Blue frame with yellow lens.
Course was awesome! Perfect balance of power and handling sections.
Heckling 101 drop the profanity, if you’re not clever enough to not use it then don’t speak, no one wants to hear from you. Also some people including guys wear pink maybe to support something like oh I don’t know Breast Cancer Awareness month because maybe someone lost someone close to them so you can leave those heckles at home too. I’m not positive who it was but do everyone a favor and don’t speak because you’re obviously not intelligent enough to create a real heckle.
On another note, that was a fantastic course and thank you ABD!
+1 That was rough, he was right across from us too.
