Thanks for another great course. That was lots of fun. Sorry to the rider in the 35+ that I partially ran over towards the beginning of the first lap. I was right behind you and couldn’t get out of the way. Hope you and your bike are ok.
Tremendous work to the Athletes BY Design Cycling Club on fabricating yet another special race day to remember! Special shout out to Jim Nowak on exquisite cyclocross course design that perfectly blended the technical with the power in creating this Sunrise Park masterpiece. The use of slope, off camber, boards, logs, bike path, heckle hill, perfect pit layout, and grass, well formerly grass was a textbook presentation of a pure steeplechase type race.
Great work by all of your team of volunteers on working Saturday to put it all together, and Sunday bringing it to life with flawless registration, focused course marshalls keeping every distracted fan and competing rider 100% safe. To so much more that we will never see, like rapid response units of tape repair teams on a perfect cross weather of a raw windy and rainy day that stressed all the markings to so many things that we never see.
Sincere appreciation to USA Cycling and One2Go Event Services for both sending their “A” TEAMS, keeping the races safe, legit, and scored perfectly and quickly. Special thanks to Jason Knauff, Nikki, and USAC for a new enhanced results printout for me that supported our 10 (30 riders) junior podiums in record time!!
Thanks to every Chicago Area Club/Team that when you think about, provide the best welcoming and silly environment with a traveling road show of tents and extras that support so many riders and fans. The same team that heckles you would never hesitate to toss you a tool or lend you equipment. That is pretty special.
Maybe more this week. The racing continues to impress on all fronts. Ultra competitive at the sharp end in most if not all catgerories, regardless if it is an ability cat, and age group race (Jrs/Masters) or the lone equipment Category (SS). I saw NOBODY shifting in the single speed. I saw NO riders pre ride the finish line. The mud made for some safe and entertaining slide outs dozens of times. To the few banged up a little more, may you heal quickly this week!!
And to counter all the overly serious racing up front, thanks to everybody else who just plain brings a smile to our faces with your suffering and desperate grabs for twizzlers. The horns, vuvuzelas, Cow Bells, heckles, cheers, and collective gasps and groans all create the scene that echos in our minds all week.
Great job everybody! Clean you bike quickly. Dry out those tents today! If you missed it, maybe you can come out next Sunday.
Kenny, hats off to you for braving that inclement (or do I say undonnelly now?) weather… I was hiding in the tent shivering while trying to prevent a repeat of our 2016 wizard of oz re-enactment, and every time I peeked outside I saw you walking around like it was 75 and sunny, unfazed. Not even a slight inflection… I think without your announcing it would have felt and extra 5 degrees colder. Thanks!
I can’t begin to say enough about our incredible announcer providing great atmosphere and keeping the schedule moving. He’s like the lifesaver wedding dj that keeps everything together and fun, but without the benefits of cake and shelter from the elements. There were some podium awards before half the field had even finished! Thank you Kenny Labbé for standing in the rain and making a great event even better.
Yes, I am very curious to see any and all photos/videos from the start.
Thank you to all those who helped me with my injury. You guys were awesome. It was so nice to have people with experience helping me. I was in total shock just laying on my back in disbelief of what had just happened, but you guys took great care of me and I really appreciate it. Thanks!

heh wow and for the record it was a soft landing 🙂
Thanks for a truly awesome race. I think there might be a more fun way to spend $25-$30, but I can’t think of what it might be..

Ah #tentinflategate2016 rough times. But I couldn’t agree more with Zeno. Kenny, you are such an important part of the series. Thank you!

There were some great wipeouts. Too bad the mud on the lens obscures most of the view.
