2026 Lords Park Preview

October 1, 2026
  • NEW VENUE
  • Cohosted by the Sasquatch Squadron powered by Main Street Bicycles and the Northbrook Garner Bicycle Club.
  • Online reg is open until Friday night on BikeReg.
  • Preliminary staging will be posted here Saturday.
  • Numbers are always on your left SIDE (not your back).
  • A friendly reminder, DO NOT EVER overtake a rider who is still finishing their race. We thankfully have not had any complaints yet this year about pre-riders getting too close to racers still finishing. Please give everyone the respect you would expect while you are racing. Thanks!

About Lords Park

  • The road through the park is NOT a continuous loop. There’s parking all along the loop but the most parking is on the Southern section that goes past the zoo.  The parking lot is by the aquatic center.
  • The park is excellent for families. There’s a zoo with Bison and Elk! There are TWO playgrounds, two ponds, and a creek with a path. Go explore, but don’t miss the start of your race(s)!
  • There’s ONE indoor permanent restroom building and it should be open. We’ll have port-o-lets as well.
  • There’s NO onsite water. BYO pressure washer if you need one

Set up

  • DO NOT park in the grass.  Park in designated parking spaces.
  • Drop off equipment on the North side. There’s a large turn around that the South side does not have. Both the South and North side allow you to back up into a parking space and unload your gear right where you can set up. Pick up your number(s) while you’re at the turn around.
  • Set up your team tents on Sunday.  We’re not permitted to have tents left overnight and it’s not advised.

Food

  • Unfortunately there is NO food truck this year. Sorry, but the park did not allow this.
  • There are plenty of restaurants around the corner on Summit Ave. (Rt. 58). After your races, please check out downtown Elgin for food. Elgin Public House, Kubo Sushi, and Shawarma Stop are some favorites.

Course Details

  • Staging is in the Northeast corner of the large field.
  • The course runs Clockwise.
  • No A/B line this year. Just a straight up cyclocross course as we figure out the park and what works best. We wish there was a sand volleyball court but, sadly, there’s no sand.
  • The two-way equipment pit is between the two sections of the parking loop. It’s right around the 50/50 mark based on our GoogleMaps layout. We’ll see how much that changes after setup. Racers will pass the pit be shortly after the start.
  • After the last 2 days of rain this weekend’s weather looks great. Lords Park drains well and the race directors have kept the course out of the lowest areas that have the most potential to retain water.

2025 Wheeling Preview

November 13, 2025
  • The Wheeling Park District welcomes us back for another day of cyclocross racing at Heritage Park cohosted by the Sasquatch Squadron powered by Main Street Bicycles and the Northbrook Garner Bicycle Club.
  • Online reg is open until Friday night on BikeReg.
  • Preliminary staging will be posted here Saturday.
  • Please park in the North Parking lot east of the course to be closest to registration and the start. Please do not park in the lot adjacent to the Community Center to keep spaces open for folks heading indoors. All are welcome in the building where you’ll find additional rest rooms and hot showers, but please leave your bicycles outside.
  • The Cart will be put before the course once again with Mario’s Cart providing midday Mexican food.
  • Lots of open grass and paved pathway for warming up, but as always, be mindful of pedestrians and other patrons of the park. Please refrain from riding on the playground surface and don’t set up tents in the pavilion grass due to underground electrical.
  • Also a special note, DO NOT EVER overtake a rider who is still finishing their race. We’ve had a few complaints about this and pre-riders getting too close to racers still finishing. Please give everyone the respect you would expect while you are racing. Thanks!
  • No drones are allowed to take flight within the park due to the proximity of the Chicago Executive Airport. PWK for those of you booking last minute arrivals.
  • Staging is in the northeast corner nearest the North Parking lot access road.
  • The course runs clockwise again. The classic.  The start is a long power drag.  The finish is a long power drag.  Everywhere else is tech.  So, get those primers in on Saturday and sharpen those elbows because on Sunday we’re doin’ super serious amateur racing with nothing on the line but bragging rights (for most races).
  • The two-way pit is just east of the aquatic center.  It ain’t midway ’round and it’s nowhere near the start so don’t get a mechanical in the techy sections where it’s most likely to happen.  Get your mechanical somewhere in the easy part near tent city.  Look… on a serious note, the park gets a lot of local traffic and the only other flat spot is out of the way where things could disappear and we don’t want that.  Anyways, we’re toying with the idea of an A/B line, again.  Last year had a lot of people wondering if one or the other was faster and we liked that.  Opt for A longer unobstructed route that may or may not be rideable or a shorter Barriered route that may or may not be rideable. Be choosey (if it happens).  No itty-bitty drop this year.  It was, apparently, too big.

The two-way pit is just east of the aquatic center.  It ain’t midway ’round so don’t get a mechanical in the techy sections. Get it ’em somewhere in the easy part near tent city. We’re toying with the idea of an A/B line option on the far side of the course. Opt for A longer unobstructed route that may or may not be rideable or a shorter Barriered route that may or may not be rideable. Be choosey (if it happens).
  • Course map is here if you like GoogleMaps.
