– SRAM neutral support in the equipment pit both days.

– Due to forecasted high winds and rain SCW is requiring all tents be torn down, all the way, Saturday night. You may leave your tent(s) on premise overnight.

– Bike wash available, but not in the equipment pit. The hose is located next to the pro-shop just outside the door to registration.

– No warming up on the fairways or west of the course. The warmer temps this weekend mean the golf course will be open to golfers.

– Please stay off the putting greens at all times.

– Kids cx is on for both Sat and Sun. Open course starting at 10am, “racing” starts at 2pm. Saturday will be a C1 with UCI points up for grabs.

– The Cave Bar will be open as well as an all you can eat buffet in the Masters restaurant.

– Sorry, but there will be no kiddie race this weekend.

– No parking on the grass, and no vehicles on the grass. the village of Woodstock has warned every year that they will ticket cars and each year PSIMET ends up having to have a nice conversation with the kind officer who sits there threatening to ticket. This year the local constable WILL ticket everyone they want who is parked on the grass.

– Nappolis is selling food. Same as last year. Mostly Pizza. There are plenty of places to eat in downtown Woodstock on the scenic square and we highly encourage any hungry racer to stop by one of those places and tell them they are there because of the CX race.

– No inside bathrooms or the warming hut this year. All Porta-potties. As a result PSIMET has ordered 7 and 2 washing stations. 2.5x the number from last year.

– Rob Curtis will have the payouts that were not collected at Campton CX. If there is any question about them though he will refer you to the Campton promoter Rob Kelley.

– PSIMET will be able to accept credit cards on site if needed. There will be an extra $2 fee to cover the costs and hassle. Cash and check are still preferred.

– Karrie Ozyuk’s crew from Lucky Brake Bicycles in Crystal Lake will be in the new double entry pit to help provide neutral support. PSIMET will provide a small number of neutral wheels for use. They will all be aluminum and clincher so… Rob doesn’t suggest a self-induced mechanical near the pit as a way of upgrading race day wheels, but if you flat and have no backup then these are for you.

– There will be no water or powerwashers available this year. On the long term list. If weather becomes an issue we highly advise you get someone in the pit to work for you.

– As always, but especially now that it gets dark very quickly in the evening, PSIMET and the South Chicago Wheelmen would appreciate any help tearing down the course after the Cat 4/5 race.

– While Rob Curtis LOVES the festivities on Heckle Hill, he asks that if you bring it in you pack it out… or at least drop it in one of the trash cans. It is often tough to see after the last race due to sunset. The smell of day old Jello-shots on Monday is something he’d like to avoid having to pick up this year if at all possible.

– Due to all the hubbub regarding Ben Berden, Rob will be hosting a #HeckleClinic on Twitter leading up to and throughout the race. “You suck” is not a heckle, so learn from a pro how to do it right.

– The course: We still haven’t figured out how to embed the new GoogleMaps into the site, so here’s the link. If you know how to do this please get in touch with us.

– Remember reg closes 30 minutes before the scheduled start of each race. If you’re late, you’re not racing. We’re even giving you an extra hour to sleep in this year.

– Don’t put your Halloween costume away just yet. Race director Rob Kelley will be the judge in the annual costume contest. A bottle of an adult beverage to the winner if they are of drinking age, otherwise gift certificate to Bicycle Heaven if you are younger than 21. The bar has been set very high by the NECX. Let’s show ’em what the CCC is made of.

– TDogs BBQ will be back again and Bicycle Heaven is bringing in a 2nd food vendor that will be selling brats… so plenty of food.

– Campton CX has also upped the prize money, again and with a total of $2610.

– Kiddie Race at 2pm.

– The Course: Very similar if not exactly the same as last year.

– Parking is not permitted on Foster Ave this year. This is very, very, very important. The village of Barlett was kind enough to give us and ABD a warning last year so please park in the designated areas so we can come back and race next year.

– ABD has once again increased payouts deeper than the CCC minimums. See here. However, PLEASE PICK UP YOUR PAYOUT AT THE RACE VENUE. The race director will only hold onto unclaimed payouts until the Campton event. After Campton any unclaimed payouts will be donated to the Bartlett Park District Foundation.

– Sandwichville has closed their doors. ABD will have North Of the Border serving food this year… Mexican and American w/ veggie options.

– Kiddie race at 2pm!!

– Bike wash station set up near the entrance (for riders finished racing) and exit (in case of very muddy conditions for racers during the race) of the corn field.

– The Corn Chucker (converted water balloon launcher) will be set up near the corn field to shoot at a big Sasquatch lurking in the corn field.

– Detours and parking: Maple Ave is closed West of Carpenter Blvd. There will be access to the parking along Maple Ave if you take East Main Street to Lord Ave and turn left. Overflow parking can be had at the school lots off of Cleveland Ave a block or two East of the park.

– The course: Similar to last  year with a few changes.

– As we mentioned on Tuesday, Psycho Cross After Dark on Friday night is cancelled, but Saturday’s race is still full steam ahead.

– Remember this is a Saturday race and online pre-reg closes TONIGHT (Wednesday).

– Sorry, but there will be NO Kiddie race on Saturday.

– There is road construction at the intersection of Route #12 (Rand Road) and Old McHenry Road, which is about six miles due south of The Golf Farm. You would do well to avoid this intersection if possible as it can bottleneck, even on weekends. You may be able to access Route #12 from Route #176 about four miles north of Old McHenry to avoid this intersection if you are coming from the South and/or East.

– Dogs are allowed at The Golf Farm, but please clean up after your pups and keep them on leash!

– As in the past, the owner of The Golf Farm has asked that you not bring in coolers or grills, as there is a restaurant/bar that sells food and drinks. If you do choose to bring food or beverages, please be discreet.

– First aid will be by registration which will be under the tee box awning.

– Goody bags are available for the first 300+ racers and will be at the registration area.

– Please pick up your payouts. The PsychoCX race director will not track you down and will not be at any of the other races in the series. This generally goes for other races in the series as well. If you do not pick up your payouts on race day they will be donated to charity unless you make immediate arrangements with the promoter.

– As with any race in the Series, if any spectators, other teams, shops, etc. would lend a hand at break down time, we would greatly appreciate it as it is crucial that we tear down the course, stage things, and get the trailer loaded in an efficient manner, so Sunday’s race promoter has everything they need to get to Carpenter Park and perform their magic.

– This Sunday stop #3 of the Chicago Cyclocross Cup (CCC) heads to Chicago’s Southside at Dan Ryan Woods, hosted by Beverly Bike*VeePak.  @BBVP   #DRWcx

– Food: For all pre-registered racers, BBVP has once again graciously contracted a grill master – this year it’s Moe’s Onsite Catering, Inc. – who will be grilling free Mild Italian Sausage, Bratwurst, and Vegetarian Links. BBVP is paying for all of this food… so preregister and ENJOY! Tickets for your choices will once again be attached to your bib #’s. Do not lose them as you will need them to retrieve your food! Additional sandwiches are available for purchase on BikeReg.com. Please preorder for friends and family! Day of extras to purchase will cost more and be limited. There will again be a tip jar (for those that like to tip and enjoy the eats) near the grill and tips will be put towards the BBVP team and the team’s Junior Development.

– New this year, BBVP has hired One2Go Event Services (@One2Go_Results) for professional timing and results. All preregistered riders (with valid email addresses included in their BikeReg profiles) will receive race results and lap times for their race via email. Riders must be preregistered to enjoy this feature. **Please remember the emails are informational only.**  As always, results are a rider’s responsibility to check ONSITE and any questions regarding them are to be made timely and in person to your Chief Judge.

– Ted Berger and his crew will once again be hosting a kids’ race! Reg at 1:30, racing at 2pm.

– Series sponsor NovaCare Rehabilitation will have physical therapists (and CCC participants) on site providing complimentary injury screens. Get that training injury, crash injury or non-cycling related injury checked out or stop by for more information on our bike fitting services and physical therapy services. Look for the green NovaCare tent from 10:00am – 1:00pm.

– Water: BBVP will NOT be supplying water. There are two water fountains on site, but hydration by riders should be planned for by bringing fluids with.

– Safety Pins: The CCC supplies pins for riders but we ask that riders recycle their pins and use them each week.  We also ask that if you forget pins, that you only take the 4-5 needed, not small handfuls that would take care of 2-3 other riders.

– Parking: Parking is free, and the best spots are off of the 8500 S Western Ave entrance to the park… follow parking lot to the South.

– The Chicago Marathon is being run on Sunday so please plan your travel times to and from the race accordingly.

– Online pre-registration on BikeReg.com closes TONIGHT at 11:45 PM. Please remember on-site registration closes 30 minutes prior to each race’s scheduled start time. All bib #’s must be picked up prior to registration closing so please be timely and considerate to all those you race with and don’t show up 20 minutes before your race expecting to still get in.

– The Course: Runs clockwise. The course will once again be offering a little something for everyone. It will have straight power sections, hills (big), technical turn sections, and the infamous bunny hop barriers will be back – although spread out on the course this year!  Energy management will be key!  Bring your awesomeness!  Oh, and bib numbers go on your left SIDE!

– Officials and medical tents will be on the basketball court at the S/F line. We’ll be going UNDER the flyover first, then OVER when it loops back around in the Figure-8.

– SRAM NRS will be in the pit, which will be located on the S/F straight. Right-hand entry. Please don’t leave equipment in the pit long before or after your race.

– Here it is, the first official race of the 2013 CCC season in Jackson Park hosted by xXx Racing.

– Remember the majority of the course preview is over on the JPCX preview page. On twitter use #JPCX.

– You’ve all seen the pre-reg numbers and there are lots, and lots, and lots, and lots of people racing. But even after that there are lots and lots of people on the wait lists wanting to race. We’d like to give everyone a chance to race, but we do have limits to how many people we can fit on the course at one time. That number is 100, so if you don’t plan on racing, please let us know asap so we can make room for others who do.

– Because there are so many people on the wait lists xXx Racing will be strictly adhering to the registration closing times, which are 30 minutes before each race is scheduled to start. If you have not picked up your bib number prior to 30 minutes before your race you will lose your spot and it will be given to the next person on the wait list. No exceptions. Please don’t ask to get into the race after this time as you will then be at the back of the line. We try to make the reg process easy on all of you, so please help us out here and arrive early and enjoy the spectical.

– If you are still on a wait list (i.e. have not been transferred into a race) you will still need to pay with cash or check on Sunday. Your credit card information from BikeReg will not be available to be charged. Sorry.

– The weather has an 80% chance of awesome. Please dress and bring tent sidewalls accordingly.

– The Course: xXx Racing had to move the course to the South side of the park last year due to concerns from the community of so many fast people on bikes racing around next to the soccer fields. There isn’t much land to work with but this year xXx Racing has squeezed every.last.little.bit of course out of what they have to work with. The staging area and start line are in totally new locations (near the West side of the parking lot) as is the equipment pit. So please pay attention and be careful when getting there.

– Patriot CX results are here and Relay CX results are here. Remember that due to the combined nature of Relay CX those results will NOT be counted on CrossResults.com and therefore will NOT affect staging for CCC events.

– Reg is now open on BikeReg for all races except Melas CX and Montrose. Reg for these two events will open soon. Note that Indian Lakes Resort is now split into two separate events on BikeReg.

– A few notes on pre-reg waitlists on BikeReg.com since more than a few people seem to be confused. As of this writing all categories for all events are still open and NOT filled. When a category fills up on BikeReg there will be a red Closed in front of the category name. BikeReg will also display a red Only XX Spots Left in front of each category name once there are 10 or fewer spots left. Another way to discern the number of riders in a category is to click on the ‘Who’s Registered?‘ link at the top right of each page and see how many riders are reg’d for each category. All categories have a Field Limit of 100. Combined categories (dark blue header above outlined categories) have a limit of 100 riders on course at a time, based on a first come, first served basis. So if 100 Single Speeds reg before any Masters 30+, the 30+ are out of luck.

– Waitlists: Pre-reg Waitlists will remain closed for each category until that actual category has filled to its field limit. Once a category is filled (there will be a red Closed in front of the category name) the waitlist will open. When signing up for a waitlist you will not be charged until transferred into a race, if a spot opens up before pre-reg closes. Day-Of waitlists will be started when registration opens at each race.

– Day-Of waitlist protocol: 30 minutes prior to the scheduled start of each race category, sign-in for pre-registered riders will close. At that point, any unclaimed start spots will be given away in order of waitlist registration date/time. Racers must be present at registration in order to be given a number. Pre-reg’d waitlisted riders will of course be in the queue ahead of Day-Of waitlisted riders.

– Course previews: Since all of the courses in this season’s series are the same as last year, and many have been at least similar the last few years, the CCC website now has a Course Preview Section. Look in the menu bar above and hover over the ‘Preview’ link. Each course specific page has (or will shortly) the basics about each venue that would normally be in the Thursday course preview posts. We’ll still have those Thursday posts but they will be shorter and more tailored to any specific announcements and/or information the individual race promoters want to let you know about this season’s event.

Village Cycle Center – The CCC is built on the backs of the local bike shops that support our racers.  Village Cycle Center officially jumps into the mix for 2013.
